K&KGC celebrates 5th annual ATF Global Summit 2017

Top buy-side traders gather for the single annual must-attend event for the industry.

Over 130 senior traders and heads of buy-side trading gathered in the heart of the city of London for the 5th annual Alpha Trader Forum (ATF) Global Summit on 2 February 2017, a one-day closed-door private event for the global asset management community to discuss the hottest issues in equities, foreign exchange and fixed income.

The ATF Global Summit brought together buy side traders from several countries including Germany, Ireland and South Africa, Abu Dhabi, France, Belgium, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Highlights from the day included a regulatory policy panel where representatives of the FCA, ICMA and EFAMA; sponsor speed dating sessions run by representatives from 360T, BAML, Credit Suisse, Euronext, FlexTrade, FX Connect, Instinet, Jefferies, Liquidnet, MTS Markets and OTAS Technologies; roundtable buy-side only discussions in equities, fixed income and FX. The ATF Global Summit was as usual followed by K&K Global Consulting’s annual 2017 Global Buy Side Awards and networking event.

K&KGC holds the Global Summit in London every year to bring together the top global asset managers. Discussions operate in a roundtable format, with all participants encouraged to speak freely under the Chatham House rule. The forum exists as a meeting point for the buy-side to lead the discussion with their peers, in a private, exclusive invite-only environment.

In addition to streams on equities, fixed income and FX, there were also sessions on multi- and cross-asset class trading, including the transformation of the trading desk towards a more sophisticated cross-asset model. Other themes included the increasing electronification of global securities markets, the impact of global regulation including MiFID II, the relationship between brokers, trading venues and the buy side, and the evolution of block trading.

“K&KGC would like to thank all of the attendees from the buy-side and all of our sponsors for supporting us,” said Anita Karppi, Managing Director, K&KGC. “It is great to see the global buy side working together to address the keynote issues facing the industry as we go forward into 2017. Many of the top buy-side institutions face similar challenges arising from global regulation and the increasing sophistication and complexity of global securities markets. We look forward to continuing to work with the buy side in 2017 and we wish all of the attendees a happy and successful year.”
